Hillsborough County is home base for us, with the office in north Tampa and work running out to the suburbs east and south. The county's median home was built in 1991, so plenty of houses have aging termite protection and mature landscaping. In 2026 the county also carried most of Florida's local dengue cases, which is why we look for standing water on every yard visit.
Local conditions
Mosquitoes, white-footed ants and a wide range of housing in Hillsborough County
The 2020 census counted 1,459,762 people in Hillsborough County, with Tampa as the county seat. The housing is just as varied as the population. Census survey figures put the median year built at 1991, with about 17.6% of units older than 1970 and 37.5% built since 2000, and 61.5% of occupied homes are owner-occupied. That spread shapes the work. Older homes and wood additions tend to need termite inspections and attic checks, while newer subdivisions bring fresh sod, fire ant mounds and builder termite treatments that will not last forever.
As of Sept. 18, 2026, Hillsborough had about 134 locally reported dengue cases, roughly 88% of the state total. The county's Mosquito Management Services traps and tests mosquitoes, treats larvae with Bti and sprays adults from helicopters after sunset or before sunrise, but it cannot tip out the buckets and plant saucers behind your house. That yard-level work is where we help. White-footed ants are the other common complaint. They have been collected in the county, they nest in palm fronds, mulch and attics, and baits are the only proven control, so spraying the trail you can see rarely solves it.

Hillsborough County pest questions
What people in Hillsborough County ask us on the phone.
Ask us on the phoneNot necessarily. The county works on adults and larvae across wide areas, but Aedes mosquitoes breed in small containers on private property that aerial work never empties.
They are small and dark with pale feet, and they often trail along wiring or plumbing. We confirm the species before choosing a bait, because the wrong bait gets ignored.
It is worth an inspection. Builder treatments do not last for the life of the house, and subterranean termites work their way up foundations through mud tubes.
Yes. Chinch bugs, sod webworms, mole crickets and fire ants are all part of the lawn work we do throughout Hillsborough.
Empty and scrub containers such as buckets, pet dishes and flowerpots at least twice a week, because Aedes eggs survive above the waterline.
